A day in Paris for the French National Day!

Also known as Bastille Day, the day that marked the beginning of the French Revolution, July 14th is a day filled with joyous celebrations, political events and fireworks!

The best place to experience Bastille Day is in Paris. In morning I found a local cafe on the Champs Elysees and enjoyed an excellent breakfast of pastries and coffee.

Around lunchtime I watched the Military Parade which is the largest and oldest in Europe. The parade goes through Champs Elysees from the Arc de Triomphe to Place de La Concorde whilst the French Airforce perform an air show above streaking the colours of the French national flag of blue, white and red in the sky (Also complete with sky diving teams!). The parade is definitely an impressive sight.

Later in the evening I headed to Champ de Mars to watch the fireworks that are set from the Eiffel Tower (another great place to see the fireworks is Place de la Concorde).

Heart shaped fireworks!
